'Jersey Shore' Star Dodges Charges In Nightclub Assault

One of the stars of MTV's hit reality show 'The Jersey Shore' will dodge charges following a physical altercation that took place at a South Beach nightclub last month.

Sammi "Sweetheart" Giancola, 22, of Hazlet, NJ, is accused of punching another woman in the face on May 8.

Miami-Dade County prosecutors said a battery may have occurred, however it's their policy not to file misdemeanor charges against suspects who are no longer in the county.

Giancola has since returned to New Jersey since the show completed filming a portion of its second season in South Beach, Miami.

While the case is currently closed, Giancola could potentially be charged with assault if she returns to the Miami area.

Giancola's attorney, James Leonard Jr., says his client has no plans on returning to Florida.
