In the 9th District, Morgan Griffith is going back to Washington for a second term. He beat Anthony Flaccavento

Griffith’s campaign headquarters were in Bristol. During his acceptance speech he thanked the crowd for their support and said he's ready for another term in Washington.

"When I started running two years ago, I told you what I was going to do. That was fight the burdensome regulations and unreasonable regulations out of Washington and try to create an environment where businesses can come back to our region, the United States, and get our economy going again.  And I'm continuing that work,” Griffith said.

Representative Griffith says he would continue his fight to get Virginians back to work.

He pledged a spirit of cooperation with the Senate to break the budget stalemate.

In the 9th District, incumbent Congressman Morgan Griffith is facing off against Anthony Flaccavento.

Candidates Griffith and Flaccavento did what they could during this final push to get their message out.

Both candidates worked the diverse 9th district today.

We caught up with Republican incumbent Morgan Griffith in Pulaski County.

There, Griffith asked voters to stick it out with him in Washington.

He says jobs are his chief focus, and that Virginians want to work and he wants to help them get there.

Then, we caught up with Democrat and political newcomer, Anthony Flaccavento.

He was working the polls also in Pulaski County.

Flaccavento says voters are fed-up with the gridlock in D.C. and want change.

He says he is that change, having worked with farmers and economic development people in the 9th District.

The thing they could both agree on was Tuesday’s turnout.

Both say they were pleased with what they're seeing.
