Summer brings a host of visitors to Washington for patriotic holidays, including Memorial Day and the Fourth of July. Tourism officials say Washington saw a record 17.9 million visitors last year, surpassing a previous record of 17.4 million set in 2000 before the 9/11 attacks. There are plenty of events, parades and special attractions to please the global crowds. But Washington is worth a visit any time of the year.
