Attractions at Exploration Acres
NEW - Gem Mine If you see treasure in your near future, a trip to Exploration Acres can't be far away! First, select a three-pound sand bag with either fossils or gems to be discovered. Each bag comes with a plastic bag for preserving your finds, and an identification card so you can recognize what types of gems you have uncovered! Next, your family can spend time together at one of the twenty-six stations along the specially designed water sluice panning for hidden treasures! So get your hands a little dirty and become a miner for a day! NEW - Pony Rides At Exploration Acres, there are always new and exciting attractions to enjoy! Introducing for the 2012 season, Cowboy John and his loveable ponies! For just $3, hop on a real, saddled pony and let the fun begin. Cowboy John will hand-guide each pony through the ring, so just relax and make a family memory to last a lifetime! NEW - Pumpkin Decorating/ Race Who said only Cinderella could have a pumpkin with wheels? At Exploration Acres, it's your turn! Select the perfect squash, and make it your own with a variety of stickers, markers, and other fun decorations! Once you know it has the most style around, strap it in to one of the custom race carts, and watch it fly down our 108-foot race track to victory! This unique experience is new for 2012, so give it a try and enjoy some quality time with your family! Coming September 20th. Pumpkin Patch Every good Jack-O-Lantern begins as a great pumpkin. Come find yours at the Exploration Acres pumpkin patch! Sprawling over 10 acres the patch provides a variety of pumpkins to choose from. Don't worry about carrying them, we will have wagons available to transport your perfect pumpkin. They range in weight from 5-30 pounds and are only $.30/ pound. Also included in your visit is a hayride out to the patch, a trip anyone will enjoy! If you still want a pumpkin but scouring the patch for your perfect squash isn't your style, there will also be pumpkins available for purchase in the country store. *Hay Rides What is a trip to the country without a hayride? Tour the grounds of Exploration Acres aboard a spacious hay wagon pulled by a shiny new tractor. It is a relaxing way to survey the lay of the land and plan your visit, as well as a means to reach the corn maze. Shuttles leave regularly to take brave and energetic visitors to maze entrances. *Picnic Area Pack a picnic and plan to spend the day. There are many areas to spread a blanket on the ground; or if you prefer, you can enjoy your home-packed feast on one of the many picnic tables scattered throughout the woods. Fire Pits Don't forget to pack your chocolate, marshmallows and grahams for the trip. Making a smore over an open fire in the woods is a real memory maker. It is a great opportunity to share stories with family and friends as you relax around the fire and cook your favorite treats. *Ducky Race How fast can you pump water with an old-fashioned hand pump; fast enough to beat your opponent? Each ducky race consists of two hand pumps connected by a waterway with one rubber ducky floating in the track. The object is to be the first person to push the ducky, using water from your hand-pump, to the other end of the track. Endurance is the name of the game because your opponent is pumping water right back at you, hoping to push the ducky to your end of the track first. *Straw Bale Maze This attraction will test your sense of direction and challenge your fears. It is a small maze made of straw bales designed for visitors to crawl through in the dark. Kids as young as two go through the maze over and over, smiling and laughing the whole time. *Straw Mound Dive into the simple joys of yesteryear by jumping into the big mound of straw in Exploration Acres play area. It is the ultimate experience in good, clean fun. Corn Cannon It's true, Exploration Acres has a cannon that shoots ears of corn. An ear of corn can hurl up to 500 feet through the air with a click of a finger. The cannon operates on compressed air and makes a great boom when it is fired. The kids will love it! No fear parents, an Exploration Acres employee will be present when the cannon is fired. *Pedal Car Track Peddling and pumping, legs go round and round, as giggles and sounds of joy abound. This attraction is great fun for all ages. The pedal cars come in a variety of sizes and colors so each competitor can choose the car most compatible with his or her racing skill and strategy. Everyone is invited to pedal his or her way to victory on this straw bale lined track. *Country Store Be sure to peruse the country store. It is the cozy little shack nestled next to the farmhouse with a big cow leaning against the wall. The store offers a nice outside area to visit with family and friends and is filled with hand-painted country signs and other interesting craft items. In keeping with its name, the country store offers a variety of items to utilize during your visit. It is the perfect spot to find drinks and snacks, pumpkins to decorate, fresh farm-grown mums, and purchase flashlights to use when the sun sets. *Attraction included in price of admission |
