Chicago Bears players talk about their 28-10 victory Sunday over the Minnesota Vikings.
JAY CUTLER, QB
On the play of Brandon Marshall:
“When he comes in here, ask him about the catches he dropped too! I’ve been giving him a hard time about that. [laughs] He played well – he played great. He’s a guy I can count on in about every situation and that’s why we brought him here.”
On whether he was able to find and sustain an offensive rhythm:
“Yeah, we wanted to see some rhythm and a little sense of urgency. Guys just doing their job, play after play and getting some drives together. I thought the offensive line did a good job. There were a few moving pieces in there, with some guys filling in. Under the circumstances, they played well.”
On how much it helped to have a running game:
“It always helps. It always helps. It goes back to the offensive line – it starts and stops with those guys. If we can run the ball and give myself a little bit of time, we’re usually going to be pretty successful.”
On whether there were more rollouts today:
“Against a defense like that, you can. With 3-4 teams it’s harder, as we talked about last week. If we can do it, I love to do it.”
On whether today’s play-calling helped his game:
“The play-calling was good. I think when we stay committed to the run and we block well, we’re going to be successful. Whenever you get into pass-happy and divert from the run, it’s hard – especially in November and December.”
On whether today’s game was a confidence booster:
“Absolutely. Those guys played well. We just have to see this week who’s up, who’s down, who is going to be playing guard for us and who is going to be playing tackle. I thought Jonathan Scott came in today and added a little extra edge to that group. I thought he was fired up out there and played well. Gabe Carimi had to come in and play guard and he stood up to the challenge.”
On his touchdown to Matt Spaeth:
“I was looking for Brandon coming across the field because they zoned it out. They attached to him coming across. I thought Matt (Spaeth) ran a great route and kept the guy inside. It gave me a little bitty window. It’s a hard catch for the receivers and for him to bring that down, I have a lot of confidence in him right now.”
On his week while he was awaiting clearance to play:
“I felt confident about it. I felt good with the test. I had no symptoms of concussion, so I felt good. It was just a matter of going through the motions and talking to the doctors. I had a good week of practice. It was a shorter week with the Monday game and Thanksgiving. Guys really had to dial in mentally to prepare.”
On the final step to get clearance to play:
